– this is the camp for you! Why have your children indoors plugged into electronic games and gadgets when they could be running, jumping, climbing, summersaulting, making friends and having fun ? Give them the opportunity to build their minds, bodies and social skills at Shingikan Martial Arts Dojo's March Break Camp ! Our Camp offers a variety of fun activities for children 4 to 14 years of age, and of all ability levels, to build their self-confidence and abilities. The March Break Camp's theme is Anti-Bullying and Self-Defence. Our experienced martial arts instructors are High Five Certified and Standard First Aid CPR-C - AED Certified. In our March Break Program we will cover choosing a code word, (Choosing a safety code word that any adult who is picking up your child should know, and share that word with your child. If a stranger approaches them and doesn’t know the prearranged code word, your child will know that the person is indeed a stranger) street rules, (Even if your child is old enough to walk to school on their own, we will remind them to always cross at lights or at an intersection, look both ways before crossing the road - even if the light is green and they have the right of way - to always use the sidewalks, listen for cars and horns, cross with the crossing guard if one is present, and always be aware of traffic around them.) knowing their safe spaces, (We will clearly identify unsafe spaces where your child is not permitted to go without first asking your permission.), make their whereabouts known (Making sure your child knows they must always tell you or the adult who is responsible for their care after school where they are, where they’re going, and when they’ll be home), stranger danger (Children shouldn’t be taught to fear all strangers, but they should be taught to be very cautious of strangers that act strange.), asking for help (Making sure your child knows that if they feel they are in danger, it’s important to ask for help by making noise, yelling things like, “Help! I don’t know you!” or, “Help! This isn’t my parent!,” or if they are able to, call 911 if it’s an emergency), and body safety. (Children will be taught that their body is private and no one should touch them in a way that makes them feel uncomfortable. They will also be taught hat if it does happen, they need to tell their parents about it, and they won’t get into any trouble if they do.) Among the various activities to promote safety and awareness, your children will be able to enjoy games that encourage team work so that your children can learn skills to overcome various challenges. Each day will have it's particular challenge and obstacles, but most of all your children will be able to enjoy a week of fun and exciting games !
